Bella Blvd + The Cut Shoppe Blog Hop!

Bella & TCS Post Header

Hello and welcome to my stop in the fun blog hop this weekend where you get to see heaps of inspiration using Bella Blvd supplies with The Cut Shoppe cut files!

  • Don't forget to start at The Cut Shoppe blog here and end at the Bella Blvd blog here and you could win some fun prizes from each company (more details on their blogs).
  • The Cut Shoppe is offering 30% off their shop through the weekend with a code! I'll include the code at the end of my post!

Now, here is the layout I created for this blog hop!

Beach Play 1

I've used the Secrets Of The Sea (girl) collection from Bella Blvd to scrap some photos of my girl playing at the beach at our recent vacation. I really wanted the layout to be bright and fun and I've used a few cut files to help me do this!

Firstly for the title, I used the Write On Alpha cut file for the word 'Play'. I cut each letter out of a different patterned paper (the smaller 6x8" paper pads are perfect for this).

Beach Play 2

I kept to a linear design with most of my page elements spread out across the centre of the layout. I wanted to add a pop of color either side of my photos so on the left I used a fun geo tag from the Going Geo set. I then backed it with bright pink patterned paper! Those little fish are adorable!

Beach Play 3

On the right side I couldn't resist adding a pineapple! The Prickly Pineapple cut file is gorgeous! The pineapple adds to the tropical, beach feel!

Beach Play 4

The little finishing touches in this scrapbooking collection are perfect! The fun and colorful phrases, puffy stickers and die cuts suited my layout perfectly and I definitely achieved that bright and playful look I was after!

Beach Play 5

Now I promised I'd give you the code for 30% discount at The Cut Shoppe all weekend and here it is! I don't think you would have any trouble finding something/s that you love!

Christmas Planning!

So once again it seems that Christmas is sneaking up on us! With just over a month to go and only two more weeks of school left for the year, I NEED to get organised! So I customised a fun little notebook to be my Christmas Planner!

Christmas Planner 1

I had a small notebook in my arsenal of unused stationery (lol!) so i grabbed it and some items from the American Crafts Christmas collection. I started by covering my notebook in patterned paper - I simply adhered it using double sided tape.

Christmas Planner 3

I added a few embellishments to the front cover starting with a patterned gift tag and layering different pieces from the collection over the top. I used my typewriter to add the words to the front.

Christmas Planner 2

I've added a clip to the cover also as a place to add in receipts, discount coupons etc.

Finally, I created different sections in my notebook such as 'Gifts', To-Do's', 'Food & Baking' and 'Christmas Cards'. For the start of each section I added a patterned paper border to the page, a small piece of gold glitter washi tape and then a typed heading. Perfect!

Christmas Planner 4

I've actually popped my little planner in a ziploc bag with a pen so it is somewhat protected when I throw it in my handbag to take with me!

I love having a place where all my lists, notes and ideas can be! I hope if makes the whole festive season a bit less stressful for me so I can relax and enjoy family time!

American Crafts: Colouring Fun!

So I definitely DO NOT need another hobby as life is crazy and busy enough as it is! But I will admit to getting in on the adult colouring phase. I mean, it's just so, so relaxing to colour! But of course, I can combine my love of scrapbooking with the fun of colouring! Enter: Oh Happy Life collection by Amy Tangerine. Seriously good BUT there are several patterned papers that are printed in black and white and are PERFECT for colouring!

Totally Fun 3

So I chose a pattern that I liked and then grabbed some colouring pencils (I like the Prismacolor pencils - nice, saturated colour and they blend beautifully!) and got to colouring! I put on some Grey's Anatomy and just happily resided in my creative zone!

Totally Fun 4

When I got about halfway down the page, I was happy and decided to stop there and create a layout! I chose a happy selfie of my kids and their older cousins and kept it bright and fun!

Totally Fun 1

I kept to my usual style of lots of layers, machine stitching, mist splatters and fun embellishments! I love the result!

Totally Fun 2

So be on the lookout for this collection and grab some of the black and white printed patterned paper! Unleash your inner child and have fun colouring!

PS: You can totally find me on the American Crafts blog from time to time now as I'm honoured to have joined the design team!

Pink Paislee: Notice Board Makeover!

Recently the Pink Paislee design team were challenged to create an item for our desk using the  collection. I like to keep my desk fairly uncluttered with only my lamp and tool caddy on my desk so I have maximum space for creating. But I do have a magnetic notice board hanging on the wall above my desk and thought it could do with a little makeover!

I had a little wander through our office supply store and purchased this magnetic metal basket that I thought would be perfect for holding a few smaller items that I want to keep close to hand! Of course, it had to be gold so I grabbed my gold spray paint and transformed it!

Desk-Decor-1

While this was drying, I grabbed a few supplies and some simple white circle magnets and embellished each one with some embellishments from the collection.

Desk-Decor-2

My Sticky Thumb hot glue gun made the process super quick! I used a variety of punched circles, puffy stickers and cork hearts to embellish my magnets and they turned out super fun!

Desk-Decor-3

And here's a look at my finished project! My newly transformed magnetic gold basket was perfect for holding some of the new sticky notes and small notebooks from the C'est La Vie and Paislee Paperie collections. I'm thrilled to have them so close to hand now!

Desk-Decor-4

At the moment my magnets are holding some special bits and pieces from my recent trip to the USA! Here's another photo of the corner of my desk.

Desk-Decor-5

It's amazing how such a small project and change to my creative space has made such a HUGE difference to my creativity! I love it and I hope I've given you a couple of ideas today!

Pink Paislee Notebook

The Pink Paislee design team are going to be showcasing the beautiful C’est La Vie Spiral Notebook on the blog over the coming days and I’m excited to be sharing with you my ideas today! The notebook has 5 divided sections and each section has a combination of lined and grid paper!

Cest-La-Vie-Notebook-1

Before I jumped right in, I did a little bit of research (otherwise known as Pinterest surfing) on the sorts of things you can use a notebook for . . . I was looking for inspiration! Here are just some of my favorite ideas:

  • Keeping track of food/exercise, budget or time
  • Gratitude journal
  • Quotes
  • Book log
  • Art journal
  • Journal
  • Goal
  • Bucket list
  • Writing exercises
  • doodling/hand lettering practice

I started by dedicating one section to quotes that I collect either from social media or books I’ve read. It was so easy to add the acetate letters for a title for this section.

Cest-La-Vie-Notebook-3

Now I need to warn you – I am absolutely NOT very good at hand lettering! But in the spirit of a fun, casual notebook – I gave it my best shot! I also added a typed quote and lots of fun bits and pieces to decorate my page!

Cest-La-Vie-Notebook-4

The washi and the ephemera were perfect for adding some fun personality! And I wasn’t at all worried about any ink bleeding through to the next page – I intend to adhere two pages together to combat that!

And for something extra fun, I added a couple embellishments to the front. I simply tied them on with gold thread. For the cork heart, I neutralised the sticky back with some talcum powder and punched a hole through to tie!

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to check out the Pink Paislee blog each day for MORE notebook inspiration!

Project Catch Up!

I'm going to share a few of my recent projects today, in an effort to keep up to date with my sharing this year! First up, a layout that I created for Bazzill Basics and I used an embossing resist technique on the background.

Future-Heartbreaker

I used a Bazzill White cardstock with the traditional crosshatch texture and I love how the paint wash picks up on that texture!

Future-Heartbreaker-cu2

You can read much more detail about how I completed this project on the Bazzill Basics blog here.

.

.

.

I've been creating up a storm with the gorgeous C'est La Vie collection from Pink Paislee! The first layout is a fun layout of me and some friends! I kept it light and airy.

Crazy-Fun

You can read more about the layout on the Pink Paislee blog here including how I created the very subtle watercolour wash on the background.

Crazy-Fun-cu

The second layout I created using this collection was focused on the large title using the acetate letters - they really make a bold statement!

Its-His-Way

The floral patterned paper in this collection is divine! Again, you can read more about the layout on the Pink Paislee blog here.

If you don't already, and you are on Instagram, I would love you to follow me (username @gail_lindner) as I share on IG on a much for frequent basis!

Have a great week!
