Thanks for visiting my blog! Scrapbooking has truly enriched my life and without a doubt the lives of my children too. Let me explain further:

My children love, love, love to hear stories about when they were babies or little. I feel like this brings us even closer each time we remember. Whether they are looking through the album by themselves or with me or even just talking as I'm in the habit of remembering and re-telling stories.

My children are reminded that they belong and are important: they are the star of their pages. Seriously. What child doesn't want all the attention! 

My children (well, the older ones) can express their selves creatively and already love to scrapbook and tell their own stories. I love this.

My children know they are loved. Without a doubt. And if they ever need a reminder, they just need to pull down any scrapbook album and take a look.

 

I'd love to share with you a layout I've created using the Pink Paislee Atlas collection.

 

Right from the get-go I knew that even though this was a travel themed collection, it would be very versatile and would especially suit a few special photos of my middle son. The colours are quite diverse and the patterns are a great mix.

I just love the travel tags in this collection! They all have fun phrases and some are detailed in silver foil! In fact, the phrases and words in the ephemera pack as well as the chipboard and puffy stickers are my fave! Phrases such as 'Right Now' and 'Let's Go' are just so versatile!

I can never tire of stars or arrows as embellishments - especially for those sometimes tricky boy projects! This collection has plenty of both!

Pink Paislee: Manicure In A Jar

Christmas is sneaking up on us, faster this year again! So I'm determined to get a head start on my gifts, starting with this one:

I came across the idea of this manicure-in-a-jar on (you guessed it) Pinterest. In fact, there's a whole array of gifts-in-a-jar! I love this idea - it's quick and easy and of course, I can make it look cute as well!

I love Pink Paislee's newest collection, Bella Rouge, and it was perfect for this project.

Pink Paislee: Little Dragon Layout

I stepped out of my comfort zone to create this layout! With a Halloween theme and no Halloween photos, I decided to scrap some photos of my bigger boy with dragon face painting!

The Story | Face painting! He was so pleased with himself and he really surprised me with how patient he was waiting in line and deciding all by himself that he wanted to be a dragon!

How I Communicated The Story | Apart from the title and journaling, all of the techniques I used to create texture on this layout were to back up the dragon theme. 

Photos | Taken with my iphone and edited using Photoshop Elements actions to "warm up" the colours to suit the paper collection. 

Technique or Tip To Share | Loads of texture on the background! I used a glitter gel through a stencil directly on the background, lots of distressing, mist splatters and that cluster of punched circles, arranged to remind me of dragon scales! More details on the Pink Paislee blog here.

Pink Paislee: Tummy Time Layout

I've created a few layouts over the years with a patchwork-style background. So when my topic for the Pink Paislee blog this week was "Pinfluence" I couldn't go past a gorgeous pattern as my inspiration. 

And here's my layout:

The Story | Tummy time! I think I've done a similar layout for the older two kids! Those first few weeks when you pop a newborn on their tummy and they are so awkward and gorgeous!

How I Communicated The Story | With the title and typed journaling.

Pink Paislee: Baby Brother Layout

My next challenge for the Pink Paislee blog was Pen To Paper which is perfect for meas you know I'm all about the story and getting it down on a layout so it's not forgotten. But I'm not the biggest fan of my own handwriting on my layouts, I usually find a way to hide it. In this layout, it's hidden behind the patterned paper and photo panel - you simply lift it up to reveal!

The Story | I had to get down on paper the way Oliver's big sister and big brother have doted over him since the day he was born! They both simply cannot get enough of him still - six months later!

How I Communicated The Story | A lot of journaling - hand written and hidden underneath the patterned paper and photo panel! I also loved the sweet saying on the 3x4 Journaling card!

Technique or Tip To Share | I used little heart stamps to emphasize some words in my journaling. I added a file tab to the "flap" and typed on it with my typewriter.

I am challenging myself now to make a layout for both of the older kids' albums documenting how they loved their baby brother and the cute things they each did. Now, to just find the time!

Pink Paislee: Bathtime Layout

I have another layout to share that I created for the Pink Paislee blog. My topic this week was all about STICKERS so I listed a few reasons why I love Pink Paislee stickers for a bit of fun. 

The Story | Photos of my sweet, smiley baby in the bath! The two older kids have similar layouts about loving bathtime so keeping it fair here! Also, I can't resist that beautiful smile!

How I Communicated The Story | Lots of word and phrase stickers with sentiments to echo the feel and mood of the layout. Only a small amount of journaling plus date and age added to a label sticker with my typewriter.

Photos | Taken with digital SLR camera and lightened in Photoshop Elements. 

Technique or Tip To Share | Read all about my sticker love on the Pink Paislee blog here. I also used a cut file to create the circle frames. I did this not only because I like the look of it but it also meant that I could quickly cut the photos and patterned paper circles and not worry about it being perfect as the uneven edges will be hidden under the frame anyway!

Pink Paislee: Amelia Age 6 Mini Album

The Story | This is one of those projects that I know I'll look back on in years and be so grateful that I did. I wanted to create a snapshot of Amelia and her personality right now. A mini album seemed the perfect thing to create and get her involved in.

How I communicated the story | I simply typed up a few questions for her to answer. I got her to write it and didn't edit it at all. She loved doing this.  You can read the prompts in the photo above.

 

Photos | I've scattered a few photos from the last few months throughout the album - from my iphone and big camera. I included a large photo as the final page in the album and added a couple of embellishments right on top.

Technique or Tip to share | I created a couple of fun shaker pages (pic above) with my daughter's help of course! We punched a few shapes from patterned paper scraps and added them into a clear pocket along with some smaller die cuts from the ephemera pack and sequins.

I also included a QR code of a snippet of her favourite TV show (pic below).

Pink Paislee Scrapbooking Layouts

I have a couple of layouts to share today! They have been up over at the Pink Paislee blog but I thought I'd share here also.

This first one is hightlighting GOLD as a current trend and I'm LOVING all the gold embellishments in the Pink Paislee Solstice collection. 

 

 

I took the gold a step further by stitching with gold thread and adding some splatters of gold mist.

 

The second layout was also using the Solstice collection and tells the story of Noah's first time at the beach!

Lots of clusters and layers of patterned paper on this one!

 

I'm having a little trouble finding time to create and blog lately! So thanks for popping by and I hope as Oliver gets older I get a little more time! 

 

Pink Paislee: Summer Bucket List Mini Album

All this week the focus is on summer bucket lists on the Pink Paislee blog. This isn't something that I normally do in summer but I think now I will be motivated to be a bit more intentional with some activities come summertime! Now that I have this mini album to fill up with memories:

I created a small accordian style album (inspired by the idea of a fold out map). Open it up and the list is just on the inside cover. My list is blank, ready for me to fill with activities . . . once the weather warms up a bit!

When I'm creating a mini album, I usually look to Pinterest or other blogs for cards that I can turn into mini album pages. If a card catches my eye, I'll create a little sketch. Here's a peek at my sketches for this mini.

Scrapbook Generation's CREATE Online Magazine

A little while ago, the whole design team at Pink Paislee were given the opportunity to create projects to be featured in an upcoming issue of Create magazine. (This is a FREE online magazine). Well, the time has finally come, the magazine is out and you NEED to go check it out!

It is jam packed full of amazing projects and, best of all, SKETCHES! These sketches truly rock! They are so easy to work with! I'd love to share with you the double page layout I created . . .

I always struggle with double pages, but this one came together nicely thanks to the sketch!
