Favourite Things

I have a 'favourite things' layout to share with you for (hopefully) a bit of weekend inspiration!

 

 

Here are a few of my favourite things right now:

• Krylon Leafing Pens 

- This was a BIG tip from Heidi Swapp, to use these pens to colour your chipboard! Ha! Never thought of that. You can get gold, silver and copper and you simply colour in your chipboard. On this layout, I've used the silver pen to colour my flourishes.

 

• Bazzill Swiss Dotted Cardstock 

- This has quickly shot to be one of my favourites. Perfect to add dimension to any layout but I've found it especially good to use when you want to keep a layout quite simple but still interesting.

 

• Fancy brads 

- an oldie but something I'm re-discovering as there are so many more affordable ones out there now (thanks to Kaisercraft mainly). Epoxy brads, flocked brads, glitter brads - I love them all and have got quite a stash now. Why do I love them so? For centres of flowers of course! A quick and easy way to add a classy touch to your projects.

My Favourite Things

Today I have a layout to share that uses a few of my latest favourite things. The layout is also my 'one little word' project. (see post here  if you don't know what I'm talking about). 

 

Here's what I'm loving right now:

1. Black and white spot paper

Goes with almost anything. You need to keep some of this in your stash. This particular one is from Heidi Swapp (has big spots on the back) but a few paper manufacturers make a black and white spot paper.

2. Heidi Swapp Damask Stamp

I already owned this before Create '08 but we learnt many, many ways to use this stamp from Heidi herself. So very versatile. And goes with a variety of themed photos.

  

3. The font 'Downcome'

You can download it here. A nice, grungy font but is easy to read. It's the font I've used on my photo for the word 'health' and I've also used it for my journaling.  A girl can never have too many fonts right?

4. Hot Pink

I'm so influenced by Heidi Swapp lately! I picked up a set of her chipboard letters in hot pink and they were the inspiration for this layout. Black, white and hot pink.

And you know what? My husband has a tshirt with hot pink writing on it and I've seen boys' board shorts with hot pink on them so it's NOT just for girls!

My Favourite Things

Here are a few more of my favourite things right now! First, the layout:

 

1. Surprise - it's the Slice from Making Memories! On this layout I have cut the flourishes, dictionary paper flowers and corners using the slice. I love those jumbo corners! I stamped and distressed them also.

2. New Stickles. There are new colours and they are to die for. There are quite a few colours in the new Glitz Stickles range and they are super dooper sparkly! I love to add stickles over the top of letter stickers, brads and flowers. If I've said this before on my blog, sorry for repeating myself but it's such a quick and easy technique for maximum impact.

3. Die cuts and titles from My Mind's Eye. Not only do they save time, being pre-made and all but great for pages when you can't think of a title! A pack of these die cuts from Blossie's contains one or more title blocks. Easy!

Here's another "My Favourite Things" post, as I've always got new favourite things to share! First, the layout.

 

1.  Pink Paislee Fashion Script Alphabet Stickers

I know I've gushed before about these letters but seriously, I can't get enough of them. I now have multiple sheets of some colours so I don't run out. They look so good and you can join them up to look like running writing or leave them plain. You can add some stickles over the top to make them glittery or outline them with a pen to change the look. Here is a link to their blog where you will see that I'm not the only one who loves them!

2. Edges, Trims, Boders of the pre-made variety

Oh so much simpler to just stick a scallop strip down than to cut your own! On the layout above I've used Just The Edge from Bazzill (which by the way I saw new designs available at Blossie's  including a butterfly edge). Check them out here. I also LOVE Paper Frills from Doodlebug. 

 

3. Dictionary Paper from 7 Gypsies

This has been a loooong time favourite of mine. At the moment I'm loving cutting it into flowers, distressing and layering with "real" flowers, felt flowers, buttons and bling. The simple black and white or black and off white designs match nearly EVERYTHING. I don't actually know if this paper is available anymore . . . i have quite a stash. But I bought an old second hand dictionary to tear up and use for this purpose!
