{Cards For Special Girls}

With two little girls' birthdays recently, I broke into my stash of Little Girl papers from Echo Park and some Zva Bling was the perfect companion!

 

Can you tell I was in my element creating these?

I actually used the one rhinestone swirl on both cards (simply cut it up) purely to make it fit!

{Zva Creative March DT Blog Hop!}

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY!  As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

{Lots of Circles}

Here is my last project for Elle's Studio this month, the first layout for the new baby's album!

As ultrasound photos aren't the best, I cropped them into close circles around the bub, the same size as these large journaling tags:

I did actually trace and handcut the photos so a bit of sanding around the edges not only helped define the photos but hid any uneven cutting!

 
Lots of distressing and stitching on another non-pink layout! He he! I had to keep it fairly neutral as we don't know if baby is a boy or girl!

 
Lots of little embellishments on this layout! And the sentiments on the journaling tags were perfect! 

I'm working on a layout with the most recent ultrasound photos on it. I really must order an album for them!

 

 

 

{Quick & Easy Cards}

I want to share with you a set of cards that I created using the new Handmade Layers line from Elle's Studio.

 
They are smaller 'notecard' cards as they're made by simply folding some of the new 4" x 6" journaling tags in half!

Here's a closer look at each of the cards - all with the same basic design: a circle tag, a birthday banner and three coordinating buttons.

  
 
 

And I love having a couple of masculine-type cards in my stash! These are the birthday banners that I used as the sentiment on the cards:

 

They look so layered and dimensional as the detail's in the tags! See, I told you they were quick and easy!

 

 

 

{Elle's Studio March Gallery}

Love it! And I'm making an effort to not use pink on every single layout! Red and blue always look good together don't they? I used to recommend to customers when I worked at a LSS that if they're photos had lots of red in them, to go for blue patterned paper and vice versa.

Gorgeous banners below that I used in part of my title. As there's lots of 'stitching' in the journaling spots etc, it just looks awesome to add in a bit of my own messy stitching!

 

 

And I cut up a few smaller circle tags for the 'scallop' border below my photo. And the larger tag was perfect for the corner for my journaling. I love having different sizes to use on the one project for interest!

{I Love Colour!}

Here's a sneak peek more colours of doily/flower kits that will be in my Etsy shop in the next week or so.

 

I love playing with different colour combinations and I've tried to include some different colours from the last kits for variety. I'll let you know here on my blog when they're ready and loaded into the shop!

 

{Scrapbooking Memories Vol 13 No 4}

This is the latest issue of Scrapbooking Memories magazine to hit the stands and in it is my second Step By Step article as part of the 2011 Creative Team!

It's all about creating crepe paper ruffles with your sewing machine and it's one of my favourite layouts ever. Here's a sneak peek at the article:

 

And because in the article you can't really see the effect properly, here's a detail shot of the completed ruffle:

 
I've added a touch of crystal glitter to the edges of the ruffle and it's the sweetest effect. LOVE IT! Let me know if you have any questions . . .

 

{A Blog Award}

With this blog award, I am to share it with 8 other fabulous crafters & share 8 things about me. I apologise if I'm repeating some facts about myself, it's hard to remember what I've shared before!

8 Things About Me (pretty random!)

1. I'm very un-Australian and don't eat any fish or seafood unless it's salt & pepper squid from the local Chinese restaurant!

2. Both my blog name and Etsy store name are song titles from my very favourite band Silverchair.

3. My favourite book is To Kill A Mockingbird and would love to name the baby if it's a boy Atticus and if it's a girl Harper - my husband doesn't agree!

4. My wedding song was The Wonder of You by Elvis. I play it (and other Elvis songs) to Amelia all the time and she loves him! 

5. When my babies are a little older, I would love to become a learn to swim teacher.

6. I own the entire series of Beverly Hills 90210 on DVD and still love the early years!

7. I've never been a bridesmaid and am dying to be one . . .

8. My middle name is Louise after my grandfather whose name was Louis.
