{Zva Layout & Elle's Studio News}

This layout has been sitting unfinished on my desk for a few weeks now! I just wanted to jot down a bit of journaling comparing last Christmas (which Amelia basically missed because she was so sick) with this Christmas, and how we were looking forward to her enjoying herself!

{Zva Creative December DT Blog Hop!}

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY!  As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project. 

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way.

Here's my layout that I'm excited to share today:

 

My colours for this blog hop were black, cream and red but due to baby brain I forgot to order any red at all! So, it's black and cream for me!

 
I just love the large black swirls (CRB-03CA-102 & CR-02CA-123) I've arranged in the corner! And those cute roses? I've used the medium and small sized roses from Zva (FLBK-03CB-122 & FLBK-03CB-101). It's hard to tell in the photos but I've inked them slightly with cream ink so they weren't as stark on the layout.

 

And this little cream scroll (PEW-02CB-103) was just perfect to 'underline' my title.

Speaking of titles, I just love using song lyrics as titles - especially when I don't have a lot of journaling to add such as here! I'd love to hear of any song lyrics you've used as page titles . . .

{Merry Christmas & An Announcement}

I sincerely hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! We did, despite the pouring rain! I just have one very over-tired girl and a fridge full of leftovers to deal with!

I'll just share one quick photo - opening presents while wearing her Cinderalla costume. She was so overwhelmed and would open one present, love its contents and just play with them ignoring all other presents. We of course let her go at her own pace so it sure took a while to get through them all!

Now, this has certainly been a busy few months for announcements on my blog and this should be the last one for a while! Some of you might have guessed that the lack of posts and scrappy projects on the blog was due to something that is due in July 2011!

 
We were waiting until Christmas to formally announce that baby number two will be coming next year! Woo hoo!

The last month and a half has been quite challenging as I got hit with extreme fatigue and nausea and it's taken all my energy just to try keep up with Amelia! The last few days I've felt a lot better though and I *think* my scrappy urges have finally returned! Well, they had better as I have lots of assignments to complete . . .

Thanks for sticking with my blog lately and I promise there are more exciting projects in the works to share, starting tomorrow night with another Zva Creative blog hop! Yay!

 

{Busy, Busy}

A random post today, a glimpse of some of the things that have been going on in these parts the last couple of weeks!

We've been to The Wiggles concert:

 

Amelia, once again, sat perfectly still and in awe! Until Santa came out, then there were tears because she wanted to go right up to him and say hello!

And then I went to a Bon Jovi concert last week also:

 

It was sooo good! He played all my favourites including a few I've never heard in concert before!

And finally, this:

 

Earlier this month my husband travelled to Poland for work! I think that's where Santa lives isn't it??? Sooo much snow!

So there, just a few reasons why the blog-o has been a bit quiet of late! Busy, busy!

 

{Masters 2010}

The Scrapbooking Memories Masters edition is out now and it's always my favourite magazine of the year!

I feel very honoured that I received two honourable mentions this year! Yay! If you check out the magazine you'll find my single page layout and my off the page creation which was an activity book of sorts for Amelia.

Funny thing is, my favourite project didn't make the mag - it was my double page layout. So I get to share it here on my blog!

 

You know, I don't think I actually used a full sheet of patterned paper on this layout! I pulled together all sorts of scraps to make the patchwork-type effect. And each block was stitched on too!

 

Little clusters of embellishments here and there . . .

 

I just love this layout! Thanks for looking!

 

 

{Displaying Layouts}

Inspired by Kim and the stunning displays of scrapbooking throughout her home, I decided that I wanted to keep layouts on display for a while, before tucking them into an album.

I happened to pick up a few 12"x12" clipboards when my LSS closed. I attached them to the wall with my favourite 3M Picture Hanging Strips. 

 

Quick and easy. And always changing. I must put some Christmas layouts up over the next week!

{Even More Exciting News}

Well, it must be my year next year as my exciting news today is that:

I've made the design team for Elle's Studio!

I'm so happy to be part of this team. It's one that I've applied for numerous times in the past as I just looove her stuff! I'll be adding links to the other talented design team members in my sidebar soon so you can check out their blogs too!

I think I will be sufficiently busy over the next six to twelve months with my two design teams and Scrapbooking Memories Creative Team articles.

The good new for YOU (blog readers) is that I will be sharing lots more scrapping here on the old blog!

 

{I'm Still Here & A Layout Share}

'Tis the wrong time of year to be sick I tell you! The whole family has been struck down over the past couple of weeks with an awful cold/flu and it's really knocked me around! Sloooowly I'm starting to get back to normal . . .

Anyway, enough of that - how about a layout?

 

A fun layout using lots of bits and pieces! Journaling spots and flashcards from Elle's Studio, Zva pearls and that gorgeous layered pink flower was from Sweet Vintage.
