I've got a fun day ahead on Saturday, teaching at Blossie's. Looking forward to it! But today I want to share some sneaks of November's classes which will sadly be my last ones at Blossie's.
As usual, two sketches.
And my technique class is all about ruffles! Oh how I love thee!
And tomorrow will see me doing a bit more scrapbooking . . . so hopefully I'll have something else to share very soon!
Those of you who know me personally have probably heard the news that the scrapbook store where I teach and work, Blossie's, is closing at the end of November. I know that this was not an easy decision for Annette. And I'm still coming to terms with it myself.
I've been working at Blossie's since early 2007 and teaching there for longer than that. And I'm so lucky that I had the opportunity to not only work with what I love (ie paper and scrappin' supplies) but also to work with my closest friends.
Oh my, how these three girls and I have laughed, cried, vented and created with each other! We are so very different from each other but yet get along so well! Maybe that's why we get along so well?
I think what I'm going to miss most about Blossie's is always knowing they were there if I needed. Whether it was by email, phone or visiting in person, I was constantly in touch with the girls and sometimes it was my saving grace in my transition to being a stay-at-home-Mum. I know we'll all still keep in touch, probably not as often though!
Insert big sigh here.
So what next for me? I'm a big believer that things happen for a reason. It wasn't that long ago that I got this big news. And trust me, I've been working hard on lots of projects for Scrapbooking Memories Magazine so far and it's only early days!
I'm quite happy with how my little Etsy shop is going. I have some new things almost ready for an update on November 1st and am brainstorming ideas for new embellies for next year also.
With no in-store classes to teach after November, hopefully it will mean a little more scrapbooking to share on the blog here. Currently I create at least 5-6 layouts a month for classes. I'm wanting to share lots more techniques and hints right here and maybe even throw in sketches occassionally (if that's what you want?!).
I will maaaaybe look into running an online class or two next year. We'll see. It'll have to be a good one LOL!

I had a last minute opportunity to go to a concert on Monday night! I couldn't resist as it's a band I hadn't seen LIVE before. Can you guess who it was?
I always take my handy point + shoot camera to concerts. I just love getting photos to prove that I've seen them live. Even if most of the photos turn out blurry LOL! Before I had Amelia, these are the sort of things I used to scrapbook all the time.
Tip: I find that even blurry photos look good if you change them to black and white and print them wallet sized.
I have loads more layouts, mostly about Silverchair concerts I've attended, but I'll spare you those! My point is I'm so glad I've recorded these concerts and music loves of mine in my albums. My kids will probably laugh at me in years to come, or more so at my taste in music! Just another reason I love scrapbooking.
Another layout share today! Let's get right to it:
It's a reasonably simple layout but featuring some of my favourite papers from The Girl's Paperie.
My goodness, I really do need to get more of this gorgeous red and white dot paper. One of my all time favourites and I'm down to using just the smallest scraps of it! Perfect for the punched circles to surround my photo in this layout as I didn't have a full sheet to work with!
And the background is the most beautiful, delicate blue pattern. I always struggle to find the right shade of blue but I do have a stash of this one!
The photo on the layout was a 8" x 10" trimmed to a square, with a simple black photo mat with a bit of messy stitching. You can see in the following photo that the punched circles are distressed and then I outlined each with black pen for more detail. That's black pen used to outline the entire layout also. Simple but effective and by no means straight!
I've added a few rub on details to the layout also - just trying to use stuff from my stash. I find that's the beauty of my Clip It Up - I just 'browse' it looking for any bits and pieces that might work on a current project!
As a side note, Amelia loves to help me bake but I'm limited to what we can make as she has a dairy allergy. One of the things she can make/eat is chocolate crackles as it doesn't contain actual chocolate or butter . . . only loads of sugar! And by helping me bake I mean mixing and getting half the ingredients on the floor and eating the mixture!

Happy Sunday! I'm just going to quickly share a layout today. It was from a class I did at Blossie's a few months ago and I didn't have it photographed for the handout so here it is:
It's a patchwork inspired layout using one of my favourite photos of Amelia . . . from a while ago now!
I've got another layout to share tomorrow which I'll go into a little more detail about!
Just thought I'd pop a few photos of last weekend's wedding on here. It was held in Sydney at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains so it was lovely - very cold but beautiful. Most of the weekend we were in a cloud which was very surreal!

The bride wore the same dress her mother did when she was married and it just so happens that her grandmother made it!
As I mentioned, it was a masquerade wedding and I was very skeptical going into it. But I have to admit, absolutely everyone wore a mask and there were also lots of capes and things so the atmosphere was amazing! And as the bride is a photographer . . . it's all about the photos!
Here's one last pic of my husband and I before the wedding. It was absolutely freezing and blowing a gale so my dress looks kind of puffed out! Two seconds after this photo was taken, I hurried back in the hotel to wait in the warm!
I'm off to Blossie's today to do some scrappin' and laughing! Can't wait! I'll be back soon with a layout share.
Just a card to share today. We are attending a wedding this weekend, the wedding of our wedding's best man for which Thomas happens to be best man! Did you follow that???
It's a masquerade themed wedding so there's my mask next to the card I made (inspired by the fabulous Maile Belles of course). It should be an interesting wedding to say the least!

Yay! After weeks of yucky, rainy, dreary weather we've woken up to beautiful sunshine here in Brisbane today! Makes me actually want to get out and do stuff!
