In the midst of Amelia's illness last week, I felt the overwhelming need to just scrapbook.
I just wanted to use bright papers, some of my new Thickers and make some flowers. And a nice photo of the Blossie's crew.
Mmm. Love me some punched and scrunched flowers.
Lots of layers including the cutest little paper doily. I'm loving my new supply organisation - makes it so easy to use more bits and pieces from my stash.
We didn't have a very good Christmas around these here parts. Amelia's tonsillitis got quite bad and we had her back to the doctor on Christmas eve as her antibiotics were making her sick. So she only made a short appearance at her Oma and Opa's on Christmas eve since she wouldn't stop crying and still had a fever. I was hopeful that after a night's sleep she would have improved by morning.
Nooo. She had so little energy that she could barely lift her head in interest to presents. We did go to my family's Christmas at my uncle's and had been looking so forward to it as she would have little cousins to play with and a pool to swim in. But she just cried for most of the day and only wanted Mummy to hold her while she was crying.
We put her to bed early (4.30pm) and she slept without stirring until 7.30 the next morning and was finally a bit brighter. So on boxing day, she noticed presents still under the tree and tore into them. It was (sort of) the Christmas morning I had been hoping for!
And so we've continued for the last couple of days, she plays a little bit, then needs to rest. Is slowly gaining her strength and smiles back. I have to admit that I'm a little bummed that she didn't have the magical Christmas that I spent the month preparing for but I'm grateful that she's getting better now.

My poor baby girl is sick again so I doubt I'll have time to blog again until after Christmas - still have a bit of baking to do for the big day also. I don't have much creative to share anyway - hopefully after Christmas I'll get my new studio up and running and have a bit more creative time.
My December daily album is coming along slowly . . . I've actually only completed 6 or so pages but have been taking photos and recording the memories so I will get it done!
I'll leave you with a photo of my girl - proof that she will be a girly girl like her Mummy! She cracks me up all the time with the way her little mind works.

Today we are having a celebration! Today marks a milestone that not everyone reaches. Today is my Mum and Dad's 40th wedding anniversary. Can you believe that? 40 years married! I keep asking my Mum "who gets married 5 days before Christmas?"

I've decided that Santa is filling stockings this year. Although Amelia is too little to understand the concept, I'm sure she'll know it's special to wake up and have a fun stocking filled with new bits and pieces to discover. And thanks to a great post (or comments) on Ali Edwards' blog, I have HEAPS of ideas for kids and adults so I thought I'd share.
I know I'll be referring to this list for many years to come!

Isn't it cute? Did you notice the pins sorted by colour? Relaxes me it really does. I actually asked for a new pincushion for Christmas. Here's my current one:
Ha ha! I made this about . . . oh 18 years ago or so. And it's still going strong. The old stocking stuffed with fluff technique. Anyone else tried this craft? Yes, the crafty lady who helped me make this beauty also taught me how to make bums and boobs using this technique as well.
I wonder if these would be a hit on Etsy these days?
Well, the day we've been waiting for finally came - yesterday we went to our first Wiggles concert! And it was fantastic! Our seats were great - third row (aka 'hot potato' section) and we only had a couple of tears before the concert as there was some waiting involved. But once the concert started, she was pretty much like this the whole time:
A bit apprehensive, a bit overwhelmed I think. She didn't move from my lap and didn't get overly excited but she also didn't take her eyes off the show.
It was only towards the end of the show that she started pointing and saying their names - especially Sam.
Surprisingly, Dorothy wasn't on stage much. She looks like she's lost weight . . . or maybe it's just that the camera adds 10 pounds.
And that captain is a funny fella . . . and very talented if you know what I mean!
I bought her a balloon from the show and she's still carrying it around and wanting to take it to bed! I can't wait to go again next year!
Hi all! Sorry for the long pause between posts . . . been busy working and such and not having much "creative" time. I have however had a chance to make a photo ornament for the tree this year. (You may remember last year I decided to make one each year with a current photo of Amelia - to look back at over the years).
This year's ornament was inspired by Annette (Blossie's) of course.
One thing I also love about doing this is that each year's ornament reflects my current style (read obsessions) at the time. For instance, this year is all about Distress Crackle Paint, Distress Stickles and lovely organza ribbon.
I can't believe how much she's grown this year. And she's saying more words each day! This week so far she says "leep" (= sleep), "amaaa" (= grandma), "mat" (= uncle matthew) and "tink" (= stink) all of which she wasn't saying last week!
Off to make some Christmas cards now!

Remember that old drawer set that we found during the council cleanup? Well that's it all painted white in my scraproom!
On one end is my Clip It Up where I've hung all my rub ons, word fetti, border stickers, epoxy stickers etc. I love being able to flip through them when I create a layout to see if any might "fit" my project. I'm finding it's the only way to use them up!
Also along the top of my drawers is my Cuttlebug (although I do move it onto my desk when I need to use it) and a letter holder which is perfect for storing my Cuttlebug plates, dies and embossing folders. I also have some chipboard shapes that I use to trace kept in there:
Next to this is my TV - it's an LCD with a DVD player built in - saves a little space too!
There are nine drawers, most of which hold embellishments and die cuts etc which are sorted into colours. Again, I like to look through these whenever I'm creating to see if I can use any of these goodies that I obsessively collect! I've just used cheap plastic containers from Crazy Clark's and the longer trays for my borders are from Target.
I won't show you all my colour drawers as they're all basically the same:
One of my drawers has all my glitter, embossing powder, Stickles, paint and Glimmermist in it. Luckily the little one can't open these drawers!
Now onto my desk area where I like to keep all my essentials nice and handy.
On it is my desktop carousel from Making Memories which holds all my tools and adhesives. This is a fairly new addition to my desk and so far I love it! I also have an easel to hold my magazines and things that I might be working from.
All my cardstock, patterned paper and planned pages live on my desk in vertical paper holders from Cropper Hopper. They are the best! And to think I only started with a few - three I think!
Beside my desk and very accessible to me as I create is this single drawer file cabinet from Officeworks. On top I keep my paper trimmers and in the drawer are all my scraps, sorted by colour of course. I'm using my scraps a lot more stored this way.
Lastly, on the wall above the file cabinet are these CD holders (also from Officeworks) where I now store all my ink pads. I've labelled the side of each ink pad so I can see the colours at a glance. See this post for more details on this method of storage.
