Custom Ink Colours

Doing a bit of scrapping . . . amongst reorganising my craft room AGAIN (pics as soon as I've finished). I'm very much into watermelon pink, coral and raspberry colours right now. I needed to make my chipboard raspberry to match some patterned paper but had no paint or ink the right colour so I blended.

I first inked roughly in Versacolor Opera Pink, let it dry for a minute then inked over in Versamagic Red Magic for the perfect blend!

(Sorry for the bad lighting in the pic . . . chipboard also has glitter glaze over it.)

This would be a useful technique when you need a greeny-blue or reddy-brown if you know what I mean??

I'm not going to show you the full layout here as it's for my September Sketch By Sketch class. The sample will be up in Blossie's next week!

Likeness

Just a quick post today to keep Yvette off my back! I've got a layout and a couple of cards going up on the Blossie's blog tomorrow but I wanted to share a sneak peek here. More specifically, take a look at the photo on the layout.

 

That's a photo of me and my two older brothers (I'm the one in the middle that just looks like a boy). My goodness. Amelia is just like me isn't she?  I had a complete stranger come up to me at Chermside the other day and say "I can tell she's your daughter!" (I was wrangling Amelia at the time).

I really need to pull out a few more photos of me and do a comparison layout.

A Child-Free Day!

Woo Hoo! I had a whole day to myself today - at home! I had a list a mile long of all the things I wanted to accomplish but I started with the most important things and the day just flew by! It's coming up to Blossie's newsletter time so I was working on class descriptions and a brand new journaling helper and that took up a huge chunk of my day. So no scrapping (I did have to do a little housework too).

Boy Grandma knows how to wear her out! Here's a photo Mum took of the position she fell asleep in:

Patterned Paper Cleanout

Ok, so we all have way to much patterned paper and keep adding more to our stash. Am I right? I read this tip somewhere but can't find it again so I'll put my own spin on it.

I'm a big believer that your personal scrapping style changes over time. Papers you bought three years ago mightn't be your style now. Every now and then I go through my patterned papers and pull out those that no longer appeal to me, cut my losses and give them away.

But, some patterned papers have plain-ish colour on the back of them so they will now be filed with my cardstock, to use accordingly!  Get my drift? Here are my patterns that I don't think I'll use or I've had in my stash for years:

 

Turn them over, and look at the great plain shades!

Super simple idea but a great way to ensure that I use as many of my bought papers as I can, even if I no longer like the pattern.

I love lists. I've been wanting to blog about my list of things to blog about for a while now. Take a look . . .

U Create is a great blog by the way. You can get to the main page here. There are plenty of cool, crafty links on there. Here are a couple of my favourite:

• I love the idea of these lunch bags and snack bags.

• Ooh! Cute owls here.

• Kids would love to play in these table tents.

• Amelia would have loved this. They charge a fortune for 'taggy' things like this is baby shops.

I could continue on all day. You'll just have to check it out for yourself. I hope my market stalling blog readers especially go through this blog! Loads of ideas!

One Person's Trash . . .

And even better as it was FREE! You see, it's council footpath rubbish collection time in these parts. A great time of year. The beauty above was on the footpath across the road so we were quick to snap it up. Or should I say, I was quick to ask Thomas to go across the road in the cover of darkness and carry it over. He did. Begrudgingly.

After a coat of paint and new drawer handles, it will have a home in my scrapbooking room to house . . . well I'm not quite sure yet . . . but something important.

Back to the council collection. It's hilarious. We put some things out on Sunday afternoon and then spent the next couple of hours giggling as car after car stopped to go through it. An old VCR? Gone. Two ripped, old folding chairs? Gone. An ab roller and oooold rowing machine? Gone. An old wire storage basket with the white powder coating crumbling off? Gone. And I saw two guys walking up the street carrying a lounge between them. Fantastic!

I'm so grateful that I was the first to see the drawers and pick them up straight away. They wouldn't have lasted long in these parts!
